How do you find motivation?

If I had a pound for every person that has asked me to 'give them motivation', I'd be a very rich person! Motivation cannot be given to you, it has to be found within you. A question that I ask everyone that wants to make some sort of change in their lives, it is "why should you bother?". Now this might seem a really simple question, with often what would appear to be a really obvious answer, but of course it is never as simple as that! When I first ask people why they want to stop smoking, most say "for health reasons". I'll then go on to ask what is it that they think might happen to them if their health suffers? Who will be affected if their health suffers? What might they have to endure if they contract a smoking related disease, how might this affect their children? What does a future with a terminal illness look like? After we've explored these thoughts, we get a lot closer to answering the question "why should you bother?" I suppose the question should be written "why should YOU bother?"!!
